About Richard Watson MD

Dr. Watson is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a fellowship trained retina surgeon. Dr. Watson works to treat every patient the way he himself would want to be treated. He is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He attended Tulane University in New Orleans for college, obtaining a degree in mechanical engineering. He continued at Tulane University for medical school and medical residency. His fellowship in retina surgery was completed at West Virginia University. After this training, he became a member of the faculty at Harvard Medical School while treating patients with the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. He worked there for four years while also volunteering at a Veterans Hospital, where he provided free care to the great veterans of our country. In 2020 Dr. Watson moved to Alabama, where his wife is from, to open his own medical practice and be closer to family.
About The Practice

Our practice is devoted to providing exemplary care in a comfortable environment. Your vision is important to us, and every patient is treated like family. We use the most-advanced technologies and medications. For convenience, the office is located on the ground floor, with free parking just outside the door. For patients who need laser surgery, the practice has a highly-effective laser system in the office. The practice is fully owned by Dr. Watson, who makes sure that everything possible is done to help you see your best.

Outside of the office Dr. Watson enjoys spending time with his wife and children, and going on adventures in the great outdoors.
