About Richard Watson MD

Dr. Watson is a board certified ophthalmologist and retina specialist. Dr. Watson grew up in Fort Worth, Texas. He attended Tulane University for college, medical school, and ophthalmology residency. His fellowship in retinal surgery was completed at West Virginia University. Following this specialized training, Dr. Watson was employed as faculty at Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. During that time, Dr. Watson also volunteered at a Veterans Affairs Hospital where he provided free care to the great veterans of our country. Dr. Watson moved to Alabama in 2020 with his wife and small children to be closer to his extended family. 

 Dr. Watson is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists.


About The Practice


The practice is fully owned and operated by Dr. Watson. This gives Dr. Watson the unique ability to make sure that nothing comes between you and the high quality care that you deserve. Every patient is treated like family. All diseases are treated with advanced therapies. For patients that need laser surgery, the practice has a laser system that is highly effective and comfortable. If a patient needs surgery in the operating room, Dr. Watson personally performs all steps of the surgery.

The office is located on the ground floor, with ample free parking. There is no parking garage or elevator needed. Convenience and comfort for the patient is a high priority, and Dr. Watson will personally ensure that your eye condition is treated as well as possible.


Outside of the office, Dr. Watson enjoys spending time with his wife and children.
